HOWTO: Meet Coding Standards for Changing Code in Gravisto

This document explains the necessary coding standards, i.e., how the source code should be formated to adapt the commonly used and uniform code style of the Gravisto project. Most of the Gravisto development is done with the Eclipse IDE. Although not required, it is highly recommended. This tutorial assumes that you have the following:

Configuring Eclipse

  1. Start Eclipse.
  2. Open Project > Properties > Java Code Style > Formatter for each Gravisto module containing Java Code.
  3. The code width should not exceed 80 characters per line. Therefore it is helpful to activate Window > Preferences > Java > Editor > Appearance > Show print margin and enter 80 in Window > Preferences > Java > Editor > Appearance > Print margin column.
