HOWTO: Generate a Standalone Version of Gravisto

Preliminaries

This document explains the basic steps to create a standalone version of Gravisto. It is assumed that you are working with Eclipse and that you can start Gravisto within Eclipse, see HOWTO: Get Started with Gravisto.

Export from Eclipse

  1. In Eclipse switch to the Java Perspective.
  2. In package Graffiti_Core right click on create_jarfile.jardesc and select Create Jar from the context menu.
  3. In package Graffiti_Editor right click on create_jarfile.jardesc and select Create Jar from the context menu.
  4. In package Graffiti_Plugins right click on create_jarfile.jardesc and select Create Jar from the context menu.
  5. Move the files from your Eclipse workspace to the new program directory of the standalone version of Gravisto.
  6. Copy the entire directory Graffiti_lib to the program directory so that there is a directory structure like the following:
    Graffiti_lib/
    Graffiti_lib/commons-beanutils.jar
    Graffiti_lib/commons-collections.jar
    Graffiti_lib/commons-digester.jar
    Graffiti_lib/commons-logging.jar
    Graffiti_lib/jlex_java_cup.jar
    Graffiti_Core.jar
    Graffiti_Editor.jar
    Graffiti_Plugins.jar

Startup

Execute java -jar Graffiti_Editor.jar in your program directory. Under Windows it is also possible to simply double click on Graffiti_Editor.jar.

Restrictions

Please note that this instructions do not work at the moment because Gravisto's plugin manager is not yet able to search the plugin.xml files of the plugins within jar archives. As work around it is possible first to start Gravisto unpacked and load the plugins. Afterwards all necessary entries are stored in the registry and Gravisto can be started via the jar files.
